Manchester City legend Yaya Toure has revealed that he advised the club to buy Sergio Aguero ahead of Robert Lewandowski and Robin van Persie.
The former Ivory Coast star was one of the high-profile players to be signed by the club following the take over by the City Football Group, led by the Abu Dhabi United Group.
Toure arrived in 2010 and a year later had to convince the club to sign a young Sergio Aguero from Atletico Madrid.
"Even the signing of Aguero, the club wanted to sign another striker. I think Lewandowski or another striker, maybe van Persie. I was saying I prefer Aguero. They said why are you crazy? I said this little man, take him," he told Denz and Renz football podcast.

"Mancini took him at the end and look at what he has done. That's a small example of what I did behind the scenes. Working with Mancini and the staff, just to try to get a player. He asks what I think about a player.
"I tell him to the take the player, go to the chairman, tell him I said we should sign him and after that they will be like look what he has done," Toure added.

The 39-year-old Yaya Toure now works as academy coach at Tottenham Hotspurs.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that African football great, Yaya Toure, has been named Tottenham Hotspur youth team coach ahead of the 2022/23 season.
The Manchester City legend has been working with Tottenham's developmental team since December as he acquired his coaching badges.
And according to the Evening Standard, the 39-year-old is set to join the North London club's coaching staff on a permanent deal.
