Former Super Eagles Star Blasts Amaju Pinnick, Claims NFF Boss Desperate to Retain His Position

• Daniel Amokachi has suggested that Amaju Pinnick still has plans to retain his position as the NFF president

• According to Amokachi, Pinnick is still interested in the NFF presidency, adding that the administrator is greedy

Former Nigerian international Daniel Amakachi has claimed that the outgoing president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, still has plans to retain his position.

Pinnick, whose second term is billed to end by September 30, said he would not be seeking reelection.

The football chief earlier claimed some Nigerians are calling on him to contest for the third time as he added that many are persuading him to continue, Complete Sports reports.

He is the first Nigerian to hold the position for two terms, but former Super Eagles star Daniel Amokach who is the special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on sports, claims Pinnick is still interested in the NFF position.

Amokachi told Daily Trust:

"I won’t be surprised that he told Nigerians that he does not want it but deep down, the whole world knows he wants it. But he is just being greedy as a human being or a black Nigerian.

“Nobody in Nigerian history went for a second term and won but the heavenly Lord blessed you and you have done eight years.

“You are also a CAF and FIFA Executive member. So, what else do you want? If Nigerians say you have failed and they need a new hand, I think you should bow out and allow the right person to drive Nigerian football.

“You have made your contributions. Nigerians won’t dispute that. But let’s move on. We pray the next person that is coming would have the heavenly grace to lead Nigerian football.”

Pinnick cries out to NFF over outstanding salaries

Sports Brief earlier reported that the former coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has told the Nigeria Football Federation to pay him his outstanding salary.

The Franco-German tactician urged the football house to pay him with interest along with the current dollar rate following their delay in making the payment.

Gernot Rohr lost his position as the Super Eagles coach in December 2021, just a month before the African Cup of Nations was held in Cameroon.
