While Sevilla dominated the first half, Valladolid’s Sergi Guardiola had the best chance of the game just before the end of the first half. The forward found himself one on one with Bono but the keeper made a smart close-range save.
Guardiola was involved in the action in the opening stages of the second half as well as he was brought down in the box by Nianzou. Despite his efforts to roll around in the box, the referee didn’t give anything, and neither did the Video Assistant Referee.
Things got interesting with time ticking down in the second half as Anuar Mohamed Tuhami scored a stunning strike to give Valladolid the lead. The goal came in the 80th minute and looked certain to give the visitors three points. Sevilla’s pressure finally paid off a few minutes when Valladolid keeper Sergio Asenjo came out and missed the ball, allowing Karim Rekik to tap into an empty net.
