FootballFormer Ghana Midfielder Rubbishes Asamoah Gyan's Roger Milla Comparison in Black Stars Return Comments
- Mohammed Polo has charged legendary forward Asamoah Gyan to prove himself to justify his inclusion in the Black Stars team for the World Cup
- Asamoah Gyan, this week, disclosed his desire to make a return to the national team and play at the World Cup just like Roger Milla did for Cameroon in 1990
- The former Ghana captain has been inactive since leaving Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities in April, 2021
Ghana legend, Mohammed Polo, has disapproved Asamoah Gyan's comments of comparing himself to Roger Milla in a dream return to the Black Stars for the World Cup in Qatar.
Asamoah Gyan has stated his desire to make the Ghana team for the World Cup despite being inactive for over a year.
However, Mohammed Polo does not think the 36-year-old is good enough to make the squad, insisting his case is very different from the Cameroonian legend.
“We must be serious with our football, this is our fourth time going to the world cup and Ghana wants to make an impact, ” Polo told Akoma FM as quoted by modernghana.com.

“Gyan still has the opportunity though he is aged. Some of his age mates are still playing regularly.
“Is he (Gyan) actively playing now? We know what he can do when he is active, so if he wants to play again for the Black Stars, he should register for a local team just like Sulley and prove his worth. Everything stops with the coach (Otto Addo).
“Roger Milla did the same and played well in the World Cup but the question is ” are the situations the same”?
“We want to make an impact going to the world cup so all needed necessities must be explored but like I said we must be serious with our football.”
