FootballSenegal Star Abdou Diallo Says Teranga Lions Looking to Break ‘Glass Ceiling’ in FIFA World Cup
- Senegal are drawn in Group A alongside Netherlands, Qatar and Ecuador at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar
- No African side has ever reached the World Cup semifinal, but the Teranga Lions are hoping to break that jinx
- Diallo has disclosed that there are no complexes as he went on to say 'anything is possible'
Ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Senegal defender Abdou Diallo has stated that the Teranga Lions are aiming to do better than any other African nation.
No African team has reached the semifinal of a FIFA World Cup, but Senegal will be aiming to do just that at the tournament in Qatar.
With Cameroon (1990), Senegal (2002) and most recently Ghana (2010) knocked out in the last eight - all after extra time or penalties, no African team ever passed the quarterfinal stage.
But according to Diallo, Senegal want to "break a glass ceiling" when they embark on their third World Cup finals.

The PSG defender told BBC Sport Africa:
"Even though we can't see the future, you must be convinced that you can achieve it.
"We also had a glass ceiling in the Nations Cup final and we broke it, so my dream is to break another one. If we manage to do that, I will be the happiest.
"There are no complexes. If we don't make it, we don't make it, but you have to accept that pressure because it means that we are doing a good job."
Senegal begin their Group A campaign against three-time runners-up the Netherlands on November 21 before they play hosts Qatar on November 25 and finally Ecuador four days later.
