  • Darwin Núñez had a home debut to forget when the Uruguayan forward was shown a red card for unsportsmanlike conduct during Liverpool's home game against Crystal Palace
  • The 23-year-old received his marching orders when he lost his cool to headbutt Palace defender Andersen following a heated exchange
  • Núñez is the second Liverpool player to be sent off on his first Premier League appearance at Anfield after Joe Cole vs Arsenal in 2010, also on August 15th, according to Opta Stats

Darwin Núñez capped off a frustrating evening on his home debut with a red card in Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.

The former Benfica hitman scored on his Premier League debut when he notched to salvage a draw for Liverpool in a 2-2 draw with Fulham on matchday one last weekend.

His goal-scoring heroics was rewarded by head coach Jurgen Klopp when the German tactician named him in his starting lineup against Crystal Palace.

His debut will not go as scripted as his attempted five shots against Crystal Palace failed to hit the target.

Just as Liverpool upped the ante in search of the equalizer, a frustrated Núñez headbutted Andersen, responding to a push from the Palace defender.

Nunez and Andersen had a bit of a duel, occasionally physical, arguing which reached full circle with the striker receiving his marching orders.

Nunez nets as Liverpool share the spoils with newly-promoted Fulham

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Liverpool twice had to come from behind against newly-promoted Fulham to salvage a 2-2 draw in a pulsating start to the Premier League season on Saturday.

Aleksandar Mitrovic twice put the impressive hosts ahead, but Darwin Nunez came off the bench to make a huge impact on his Premier League debut.

The Uruguayan, who arrived at Anfield in a deal that could rise to 100 million euros ($102 million) from Benfica, flicked home to level at 1-1 and then teed up Mohamed Salah for an equaliser 10 minutes from time.
