Werner, who watched the game in the stands, spent two seasons with Chelsea before sealing a return to RB Leipzig this summer.
The Germany international notched 23 goals in 89 appearances across all competitions. He also won the UEFA Champions League during his stop-start stint with the Blues.
Timo has already hit the ground running on his return to Leipzig, scoring in their 2-2 draw with FC Koln on Saturday, August 13.

Timo Werner has penned a heartwarming farewell message to the fanbase of Chelsea following his imminent return to RB Leipzig.
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea and RB Leipzig have agreed on a fee of around £25million including add-ons for Werner, who will have a medical on Tuesday before the move is confirmed.
Werner swapped Leipzig for Chelsea for a fee of £47.5million back in 2020. His two-year spell with the Blues yielded 23 goals and set up a further 21 in 89 appearances.
