The German side struggled to get a foothold in the game in the first ten minutes, as Madrid’s midfield gave them no room to play. Luka Modrić, Casemiro and Toni Kroos once again controlled the play and anchored the midfield.

Eintracht did eventually find their way into the game and had the first attempt at goal through Daichi Kamada.

The mini scare seemed to spur Real into action, and Los Blancos started to push forward more. Vinícius Júnior has Real’s first chance, but Tuta cleared the ball just before the goal line.

Real would break the deadlock in the 37th minute when David Alaba poked home from close range. Benzema’s header from a corner looked like it was heading out before Casemiro headed it back into the centre of the box. The ball landed at the feet of Alaba who was unmarked and had an empty net to aim for.

Benzema should have doubled Real’s lead minutes later, but he poked his effort just wide.

Benzema did get the Spanish side’s second goal in the second half. Brilliant work by Vinícius Júnior on the left flank left Eintracht’s defenders lost, allowing the Brazilian the chance to cross the ball into the box for Benzema. Real’s captain guided the ball past Kevin Trapp far too easily for the second goal. Benzema’s goal came minutes after Casemiro hit the crossbar for Real with a beautiful effort.

Eintracht’s chances were few and far between, but none of them looked likely to produce a goal. Randal Kolo Muani, who came on as a sub for Eintracht, looked lively but never had much support from anyone else.

On the other hand, Real threatened to grab a third at numerous intervals in the latter part of the second half.

The Spanish side saw out the rest of the game to secure an easy victory.

Here are the five most successful clubs in the UEFA Super Cup

Real Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt will lock horns in the 47th edition of the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday, August 10 at Olympic Stadium in Helsinki.

The Los Blancos pipped English giants Liverpool 1-0 in the final of the Champions League, while Frankfurt defeated Glasgow Rangers on penalties to clinch their second Europa/Uefa Cup.

The current Super Cup winners are Chelsea, who won in 2021 after beating Villarreal on penalties.
