- Mhango and Pirates had an acrimonious divorce of sorts after what was a promising start
- With the Malawian looking for a fresh and successful start at Amazulu, Skhosana attributed his poor discipline and politics to his departure
Jerry Skhosana has had his say on Gabadinho Mhango's controversial departure from Orlando Pirates.
Mhango was not a favourite of the current assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi and former co-coach Fadlu Davids, who decided to bench him, to much debate about its merits.
Skhosana said to Kick Off:
"At Cosafa Cup, was the first time I saw Gabadinho Mhango for Malawi in KwaMashu at Princess Magogo Stadium during this tournament, scoring a beautiful goal and he was the top goalscorer. I told him that I wish I can negotiate with him to play for Orlando Pirates, that happens but I was so disappointed that he didn't live up to the expectations that I had."

"Whatever happened to him at Pirates, it was just football politics and misconduct, I wish I knew how to assist him, for me he was an asset and even in the Afcon in Cameroon, he was good but maybe he wasn't okay for him at Pirates, regardless of that I still see him as one of the best strikers in Africa."
Earlier this afternoon. Mhango was on the scoresheet as Amazulu defeated SuperSport United 2-1 in a DStv Premiership match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. Thapelo Maseko had put the visitors into the lead in the 56th minute, before the Malawian levelled matters in the 65th minute.
Bongi Ntuli settled the match in the 78th minute.
