  • Inter Milan have ended Alexis Sanchez’s contract by mutual agreement
  • Sanchez joined inter from Manchester United in an initial loan deal in 2019
  • Latest reports suggest he is poised to join Ligue 1 side Marseille in a two-year deal

Alexis Sanchez’s time at Inter Milan has come to an end as the club decided to tear up his contract by mutual agreement.

The Chilean spent three years with the Nerazzuri after initially joining from Manchester United on loan in 2019.

With inter, he scored 20 goals in 109 appearances and was part of Antonio Conte’s squad that won the Scudetto in 2020/2021.

"The club would like to wholeheartedly thank Alexis for these last three seasons and we wish him all the best for his future career," an Inter statement read.

What next for Sanchez?

Reports from The Sun indicate that the former Arsenal man is set to become the latest big-name addition to the Ligue 1.

The 33-year-old has already reportedly agreed a three-year deal with French club Marseille, and an announcement is imminent.

Interestingly, Inter already has a number of former Arsenal stars in the squad including Sead Kolasinac, Matteo Guendouzi and Nuno Tavares, who is on a season-long loan at the club.

Sanchez’s most successful spell as a player came at Arsenal, where he spent four years before a controversial move to Manchester United.

After a torrid 18 months at United, he was offered a lifeline by Inter, and his career took a slight upward trajectory in Italy.

Meanwhile, Marseille are looking good in the French league as they managed to thrash Reims 4-1 in their opener to keep up with Paris Saint Germain.
