According to Metro UK, the Frenchman has emerged as a shock target for the Red Devils, with the Premier League giants desperate to find an alternative following their failure to get a deal for Barcelona ace Frenkie de Jong over the line.

It is understood that Rabiot is out of favour at Juve, with the Italian side ready to cash in on him this summer.

While Man United are thought to have not given up hope of signing De Jong, they are said to be cautious not to end the window without bolstering their midfield.

Reports now suggest that a deal is in place between Man United and Juventus over the transfer of Rabiot.

However, Manchester Evening News reports that personal terms are yet to be reached, with Rabiot's mother, who is also his agent, proving to be a stumbling block.

It is believed that the former Paris Saint-Germain star could seek a salary increase for the Old Trafford move to happen as he is aware that this is potentially his final big transfer.

The 27-year-old has been a long-term transfer target for the Red Devils, who were hoping to sign him back in 2019.

However, failure to qualify for the Champions League scuppered those chances.
