Gabriel Magalhaes has declared William Saliba Arsenal's best player after the defender's debut for the Gunners against Crystal Palace.
Saliba made his long-awaited debut for the north Londoners during his side's trip to Selhurst Park for the new season's curtain-raiser.
According to Metro UK, the centre-back repaid Mikel Arteta's faith in him by producing an assured performance in defence as Arsenal kept a clean sheet and a 2-0 comfortable win.
Saliba's impressive display earned him a man-of-the-match honour from Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville.

Gabriel Magalhaes praises William Saliba after Palace win
Incidentally, Magalhaes was impressed by Saliba's performance, with the defender declaring the Frenchman as "the best."
"For me, he’s the best! He’s very young, very promising and a very good player. I am so happy to play with him, together. He has now started in the Premier League, and he was so good," Magalhaes told the Evening Standard.
"The team did very well. They showed intensity, and everyone stayed together. It’s very difficult to play here, but our keeper was strong," he added.
Saliba signed for Arsenal back in 2019 but was yet to pull on an Arsenal shirt until last Friday.
