"He's just asked me to sign a Liverpool shirt, are you crazy?". Ferdinand said on camera.

Ferdinand then went on to add: "I can't sign it, I can't sign a Liverpool shirt man".

Hilariously, he went on to sign the fan’s friend item, before being notified that the friend was also a die-hard Liverpool fan.

As a player, Ferdinand enjoyed an iconic rivalry with Liverpool while representing Manchester United.

He joined United from Leeds in 2002 and went on to make a total of 455 appearances for the Red Devils , winning six Premier League titles in the process.

In 2009, the defender has also been on record speaking of his adoration for Liverpool growing up.

Liverpool frustrated by Fulham

As far as the early kickoff was concerned, Liverpool had to come from behind twice to secure a 2-2 draw against newly-promoted Fulham, who were a constant pain for the Reds at Craven Cottage.

The Cottages went ahead through Aleksandr Mitrovic in the first half, but Liverpool found an equaliser through new boy Darwin Nunez early in the second half.

Fulham then went into the lead again through a penalty, but Mohammed Salah scored for the sixth successive opening day of the season for his side to salvage a draw.
