Wilfred Ndidi Praises Former Super Eagles Captain Mikel Obi Over Achievement With PL Side Chelsea

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has lauded Mikel Obi for his achievements during his time with English Premier League club Chelsea.

Ndidi stated that he always looked up to the former Chelsea No.12, who was part of the Blues squad that won the coveted Champions League in 2012.

Mikel also won two Premier League titles, three FA Cups, one Community Shield, one Football League Cup as well as one Europa League title during his time with the Stamford Bridge outfit.

During a Twitter Space hosted by FanBants, Ndidi admitted that he always admired the former Nigerian international.

Ndidi said as per Complete Sports:

“Mikel, because of him, I was always fighting to get the No. 12 jersey. I have massive respect for what he did for Chelsea and the Super Eagles, and I looked up to him a lot.”

The Leicester City midfielder also showered praises on Manchester United legend Paul Scholes. He added:

“He’s a legend for me. He has his opinion and I’m excited when a legend says good things about me. It was a boost of confidence and I appreciated being noticed. But for me I just want to do my thing for my club and I’m excited ahead of the new season.”

Meanwhile, Wilfred Ndidi featured in a game for the first time in over four months after playing 60 minutes for Leicester City in their 3-1 pre-season friendly win against Derby County.

Recall that Ndidi missed the latter part of last season’s campaign after sustaining a knee injury in Leicester City’s UEFA Europa Conference League clash against Stade Rennes.

But he made his much-anticipated return to the pitch as he started Leicester City’s encounter against Derby County.
