  • Carragher insists bringing back Cristiano Ronaldo was the wrong call by Manchester United
  • The pundit says no club wants Ronaldo because he is not the same player he used to be
  • Ronaldo is back training with Manchester United ahead of the new 2022/23 campaign

Jamie Carragher has brutally come out to claim no club wants Cristiano Ronaldo in their side, including Manchester United.

Ronaldo’s transfer saga rages on weeks after he made his desire to leave Old Trafford for a club in the Champions League clear.

His biggest challenge as far as a transfer is concerned is that most clubs he has been linked with have been quick to rule out a transfer.

The likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Barcelona, even Paris Saint Germain have all ruled out the possibility of signing the 37-year old, while Atletico Madrid were repelled by his astronomical wages.

In a brutal analysis, Carragher, a former Liverpool defender, broke down why no club wants to sign the forward.

"I always thought he [Ronaldo] was a bizarre signing," Carragher said on the Overlap,
"I always felt this situation would come, even if Ronaldo did great for you [Manchester United].
"He signed a two-year deal plus another year, which I couldn't believe, and he's never going to play second fiddle to anyone but as players at a certain stage in your career we all know that you're not the same player, and his career has gone on longer because he's such a great professional.

According to Carragher, Ronaldo’s greatness as a football player is unquestioned, but he is simply “not the same player” he was now that he is 37.

"But it doesn't look like United can get him out, so at the moment other clubs don't want him. And I think if you asked Ten Hag, I don't think he wants him. And I'm not quite sure the dressing room at Manchester United would want Cristiano Ronaldo right now." He went on.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo returned for United on Sunday, July 31, in a friendly against Rayo Vallecano, which ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

Ten Hag calls out Ronaldo for leaving the friendly early

Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag did not appreciate Ronaldo’s actions of leaving the stadium almost immediately after he was subbed off against Rayo.

Ten Hag replaced Ronaldo at halftime, with his substitute Amad Diallo scoring almost immediately after the restart in a game that ended in a one-all draw.

The new manager has, however, confirmed that it wasn't only Ronaldo who left. The former Ajax boss said that he has told his players that he will not entertain such behavior again.

I certainly don’t condone this. This is not acceptable,” He said.
For everyone. I told them that it was unacceptable. We are a team, a squad, and you should stay until the end.
