Gerard Piqué will be given a fair chance to earn his place in the Barcelona squad despite the club making defensive new signings.
Barca signed Andreas Christensen and Jules Koundé during the current transfer window, and also have the impressive Ronald Araujo and Eric Garcia on their books.
Despite this, coach Xavi Hernández confirmed that Piqué will be given a fair shot, Football Espana reported.
“Everyone starts from zero. Everyone will compete for a position. He who performs best will play more,” Xavi said.

“The more solutions that I have as a manager, the better,” Xavi added.
He explained that the club were putting together a great team and his objective was to return Barcelona to the top of the world.
Piqué has been a stalwart at Barca for 13 years now. He’s played 603 games for the club during that time, scoring 53 goals and providing 13 assists, TransferMarkt reported.
He enjoyed another successful year at the club last season on the field, but his personal life dominated headlines more.
Fans have since turned on the defender and many felt that the negative publicity would be a reason why Barcelona would part ways with the player.
