That defeat came after impressive wins over Nurnberg, Everton and Orlando City and Chelsea, who were completely outclassed 4-0.
Arteta used the Brentford match to give some of his younger players a stab at first team football, although there were some considerable names who were left out.
Central defender Pablo Mari, Right back Hector Bellerin and goalkeeper Bernd Leno were all snubbed for the game, and Sunsport reports that they could be close to exits.
Leno lost the number 1 battle to Aaron Ramsdale last season, and the arrival of Matt Turner could mean an exit for the goalkeeper.
For Bellerin, he has always been keen on a return to his boyhood club Real Betis, where he played on loan last season.
Pablo Mari, on the other hand, appeared in preseason, but failed to impress Mikel Arteta with his performances, and there is a chance he might be considered surplus to requirements at the club.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is currently in the middle of an interesting rebuild at the club, and the team is set to have a fairly different look next season.
At the moment, there are no guarantees the trio of Marcos Alonso , Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech will be at the club at the start of the season.
