"I’ve now reached a pre-agreement in order to join Nacional [from Uruguay], it was impossible for me to say no to this opportunity," Suarez said.
"I hope final details will be resolved soon in order to complete the deal officially," he added.

Luis Suarez had been training at the Barcelona facilities for the past few weeks.

The former Liverpool star is Uruguay's all-time top goalscorer and set to compete at his fourth World Cup later this year.

He enjoyed his most successful spell in Catalonia, winning four Spanish league titles and the Champions League in 2015, while he won La Liga again with Atletico in 2021.

Suarez was released by Atletico Madrid at the end of last season and was recently linked with a move to the MLS.

Luis Suarez Wishes Darwin Nunez Success at Liverpool With Heartfelt Message

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Luis Suarez has wished his international compatriot Darwin Nunez all the best at Liverpool. Nunez completed a move from Benfica after Liverpool agreed to pay a club-record fee for the striker.

Nunez penned a six-year deal at Anfield and has been tipped for major success by Suarez, who is also a former player of Liverpool.

Liverpool signed Suarez in 2011 from Ajax and he went on to bag 82 goals in 133 appearances, cementing his place as one of the best strikers that the club has ever had. Nunez will be hoping to replicate that stellar form of Suarez.
