Former Chelsea Player and Coach Becomes 1st Blues Legend to Be Inducted Into Premier League Hall of Fame

- Chelsea all-time top scorer, Frank Lampard, has been inducted into the EPL Hall of Fame

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is the latest former player to be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame.

The 42-year-old former midfielder retired as the Blues' all-time highest goalscorer with 211 goals and 150 assists in 648 appearances across competitions.

He was also part of the team that brought the Champions League to Stamford Bridge for the first time in 2012 following their crucial win over Bayern Munich.

The ex-England international also won three Premier Leagues, four FA Cup titles among other domestic silverware during his 13-year reign at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard clinched the EPL player of the season after Chelsea's 2004/05 title-winning campaign during Jose Mourinho's debut season at the club.

He has now joined the likes of Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, Eric Cantona, and Roy Keane in the Premier League Hall of Fame. Sky Sports report that the fans voted from a 23-man shortlist.

The honour recognises players who have demonstrated an exceptional record of on-pitch success and have made important contributions in the division since its creation in 1992.

Meanwhile, players must have retired by August 1, 2020, in a bid to be eligible for induction into the prestigious group of legendary superstars.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United legend Roy Keane is the latest former football star to be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame.

The fearsome retired-midfielder spent 12 seasons at Old Trafford - winning seven EPL titles, one Champions League, and a number of other domestic silverware.

During his reign at the club, he rose to become the Red Devils captain under Sir Alex Ferguson and they both achieved greatness.

He has now joined the likes of Alan Shearer, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and Eric Cantona who were earlier inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The 49-year-old former midfielder spent 12 years at Old Trafford - winning seven Premier Leagues, and one Champions League titles among several other domestic silverware.
