Football"Co Coaching Concept Does Not Work": Former Orlando Pirates Boss Fadlu Davids
- Former Orlando Pirates co-coach Fadlu Davids has made a remarkable admission regarding the concept
- He has said that he is not a fan of co-coaching, though he said he enjoyed a good working relationship with Mandla Ncikazi
- After Davids departed from the Buccaneers, Ncikazi reverted to becoming an assistant after Jose Riveiro was announced as the new permanent coach
Fadlu Davids is not convinced by the concept of co-coaching.
He recently left Orlando Pirates after serving in this capacity with Mandla Ncikazi, having both taken over following Josef Zinnbauer's sudden departure last August. The Buccaneers finished in a disappointing sixth place on the DStv Premiership table, also missing out on the CAF Confederations Cup after losing to RS Berkane in the final.
Davids said to iDiskiTimes:
“Although we have a good working relationship, the co-coaching concept has its challenges. Basically, this co-coaching concept does not work. There will always be a compromise on either side with most decisions we take."

“We always tried to remain professional throughout this experience, always trying to put the club first and ego’s aside. A club needs a strong leader and all the staff should follow his way."
In February, former Bucs defender Tonic Chabalala stated that he was not happy that the club had the system in place. Golden Arrows announced last month that Mabhudi Khenyeza and Vusimuzi Vilakazi would become the club's permanent co-coaches after successfully guiding the team away from certain relegation.
Mamelodi Sundowns is the league's most successful proponent of co-coaches, with Rhulani Mokwena, Steve Khompela and Manqoba Mngqithi working alongside each other seamlessly.
Former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates coach Muhsin Ertugral expects Mamelodi Sundowns to continue its dominance
They can huff and they can puff, but Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates won't be able to blow down the house Mamelodi Sundowns has built any time soon.
Thulani Hlatshwayo leaves Orlando Pirates, reunites with former coach Gavin Hunt at SuperSport United
FootballAs reported by Sports Brief, this is the blunt thought of Muhsin Ertugral, who once occupied the main chair in the dugouts of the Amakhosi and the Buccaneers. Chiefs and Pirates have signed well from the transfer market during the off-season, but Ertugral reckoned this wouldn't be enough to topple Sundowns just yet.
Sundowns have been unusually quiet on the transfer market, usually cornering it in acquiring the cream of the crop.
