Former captain of Ghana's Black Galaxies, Shafiu Mumuni, has watered down reports that Iraq is a dangerous country to play football in.
The ex-Ashantigold player spent the last few years plying his trade in Iraq with Al-Kahraba FC and Erbil SC.
And in an interview with Angel TV, the forward disclosed that his mother felt uncomfortable when he told her about his move to the Asian country.
“When I told my mum I had a deal to play in Iraq, she got disturbed. She told me she doesn’t think she will see me alive again,” he said as quoted by Pulse.

“I think she heard a lot about the war but Iraq is not as scary as we hear in the news. I've enjoyed the few years of my stay.”
Sahfiu Mumuni has a decent spell in Iraq, helping Erbil SC reach the final of the Iraqi Cup.
He is currently unattached and might be making a move in the summer transfer window.
Mumuni is regarded as one of the best forwards during his time in the Ghana Premier League, helping Ashantigold win the 2015 title.
He was also part of Ghana's Black Galaxies that won the 2019 West Africa Football Union Championship, finishing the tournament as top scorer.
