Manchester United fans were up in arms on social media about the poor state of the pitch as they saw their side frustrated to a 2-2 draw by Aston Villa.

United’s flawless record under Erik Ten Hag came to an end as Villa managed to get a late goal to claw from two down to secure a draw in the preseason friendly.

But moments to the game, there were concerns about the state of the pitch following heavy downpour in Perth that left the surface saturated with water.

Regardless, the game was given a green light to go on, but the effects of water were evident as players often went flying in as they tried to tackle.

Prior to the game, Ten Hag refused to pass any blame on the stadium, as he was quoted by The Sun saying;

“It’s a wonderful stadium, it’s a pity that the pitch is not that good because our football demands a good pitch.”

Fans on social media however did not share the same sentiments.

"That pitch is embarrassing." One remarked.

"Watching the Man Utd vs Villa game and this pitch is taking me back to the heyday of the 90s!"
