Sadio Mane beat competition from compatriot Edouard Mendy and ex-Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah to win the award for the second time.

The winger enjoyed a good year in football, winning the English FA Cup, the Caraboa Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations with the Senegalese national football team.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Sadio Mane has been crowned the 2022 Africa Player of the Year at the CAF football awards held in Rabat, Morocco on Thursday evening.

The 30-year-old Senegal attacker beat off competition from compatriot Edouard Mendy and former Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah.

The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations winner was presented with the award at a colourful ceremony in Rabat.

Bayern Munich have celebrated Senegalese attacker Sadio Mane after he was named the best African player at the CAF awards.
