Antonio Zarzana: Arsenal boss Arteta set to make Spanish youngster his first signing

Arsenal new manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly eyeing a move for Sevilla's 17-year-old wonder-kid Antonio Zarzana dubbed new 'David Silva'.

The 37-year-old took over from former boss Unai Emery who was fired by the Gunners last month after series of poor results.

Club legend Freddie Ljungberg was installed on temporary basis but he was unable to help the north London side turn their fortunes around.

Arsenal, however, turned to their former midfielder after helping Manchester City rule England for two straight seasons in just three years of assistant manager reign at the Etihad Stadium.

Arteta, 37, signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with his former club and has been tasked to help the Emirates Stadium outfit perform better than they are currently doing.

He has now made Zarzana his top target once the winter transfer window opens in a matter of weeks from now.

SunSport reports that Gunners new boss will have to compete with the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Liverpool for the signature of the teenage sensation.

The 17-year-old currently plays for Sevilla U19 team, but might end up becoming Arteta's first signing in January.

Reports emanating from the Spanish club claims that the north Londoners have initiated negotiations with the Spanish League side over the transfer of the youngster.

According to the Sun, Zarzana made his debut for Sevilla B at the age of 16 in the Segunda Division against CD Numancia, but he won't let his rapid rise go to his head.

"My family always tells me to keep my feet on the ground," Zarzana told Marca back in June.

"Daily hard work is the key, praise is good but it can influence you in a negative way.

"To say that I made my debut at the age of 16 is something that I will always be hugely grateful and thankful for.

"I was a bit nervous before the start of the game, but as soon as I got out on the pitch I forgot about the nerves.".

Legit.ng earlier reported that Arsenal new manager Mikel Arteta has made it clear that he was given a clear message by Gunners' board for him to compete for honors at the Emirates stadium.

The 37-year-old Spaniard replaces Freddie Ljungberg who has been acting on interim capacity since Unai Emery was sacked at Arsenal.

Arteta spent three years at the Etihad stadium as an assistant coach where he won two Premier League titles with Pep Guardiola.
