  • Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila head coach Johnny Ferreira has stern words for new recruit Xolani "Blackberry" Nkala

No more pointless showboating!

These are the stern words of Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila head coach Johnny Ferreira to exciting new signing Xolani "Blackberry" Nkala.

Nkala captured the football world's imagination with some sensational, amusing, and downright disrespectful skills during the DStv eKasi Champ of Champions in June. These antics earned the 26-year-old a contract with TTM.

However, Ferreira wants Blackberry to remain focused in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, saying to the Daily Sun:

"I think Nkala is a rough diamond that needs to be polished. He has a talent and I see him playing a big role in our fight to challenge for promotion next week. I am impressed with the hard work he is showing at training and how he is adapting to professional football.
"However, we did not sign him for showboating. We need Nkala to dribble past the defenders going forward, not dancing with the ball. Time is crucial in professional games."

Recently, former Amazulu director Lunga Sokhela went on Twitter to harshly criticise 'kasi flava', calling it a circus. There have been instances in which local players have been booked by unamused referees who called their acts fouls going against the spirit of the game.

Khethowakhe Masuku was the first to get a yellow card after showboating for Orlando Pirates against Black Leopards in the DStv Diski Challenge in 2014. A couple of years later, Sipho Moeti made worldwide headlines after doing the same in the colours of Baroka FC against the now-defunct Platinum Stars in the Telkom Knockout.

Dribbling wizard Banele "Duku Duku" Sibisi joins Xolani "Blackberry" Nkala and Tsepo "Skhwama" Matete at TTM

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila is signing crowd pleasers to gain itself a following out in Thohoyandou.

On their books recently have appeared the names of Xolani "Blackberry" Nkala and Tshepo "Skhwama" Matete, Sports Brief reported.

The two have become viral sensations for their cheeky, ridiculous but highly entertaining skills with the ball at their feet.
