Bayern Munich have suffered a massive setback in their preparations for the new Bundesliga season which begins in just two weeks.
The Bundesliga champions have disclosed that German midfielder, Leon Goretzka has undergone knee surgery and will most likely miss the start of the Bundesliga season.
According to Bulinews, Goretzka would be absent for the remainder of Bayern Munich’s pre-season training tour in the USA due to the surgery.

The 27-year-old Germany midfielder is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks and stands a good chance of not being fit before Bayern Munich’s opening Bundesliga game against Eintracht Frankfurt on August 5th.
Goretzka will also be unavailable for the first four Bundesliga match days and also the DFL Super Cup encounter with RB Leipzig.
Bayern Munich close in on Matthijs de Ligt
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are close to sealing a deal to sign Dutch defender, Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus after hijacking the deal from Chelsea.
According to Football Espana, all contracts have been signed between Bayern and Juventus and personal terms have been agreed with the 22-year-old defender.
Matthijs de Ligt is expected to travel to the US to meet up with his new teammates and kick-start a new chapter in his career with the defending Bundesliga winners.
