The result ensured a fifth place for the hosts, who disappointingly failed to defend the title that they won in Gqeberha last year.

Temporary coach Helman Mkhalele said:

"I will look at the positives from the games that we played. We improved in the last 15 minutes of this game. We didn't start the match well, honestly. The eight changes we made from the semifinal affected our rhythm. Once we got that right, we started controlling the game.
"I'm happy with the overall performance of the team. Some of the players have raised their hands. As the technical team, we must now decide how we can move forward with their inclusion. I'm pleased with their attitude, character and will to grab their opportunity."

Former Bafana Bafana striker Katlego Mashego criticises SAFA's treatment of the COSAFA Cup tournament

As far as Katlego Mashego is concerned, the South African Football Association and Bafana Bafana have not treated the current COSAFA tournament with respect.

As reported by Sports Brief, the former national team striker has questioned why head coach Hugo Broos is not in charge of the team, with Helman Mkhalele currently the interim one.

Mashego also questioned why form players were not being selected for the team, while unknown ones from lower leagues were.
