27-year-old Sterling is still getting accustomed to his new teammates, and this was evident in a video where he had a rather awkward exchange with Malang Sarr.
In the video, the Chelsea players are walking toward the LA Dodgers Stadium and Sterling can be heard asking Sarr:
“You actually a centre half or a left back?" to which Sarr replied: "Centre back."
Social media reactions
Of course, social media users could not help but poke some fun at the whole exchange.
"I see people are taking this question out of context. Sarr played as CB, LB and LCB for us last season. It’s not out of place for a new player in the team to ask about his actual position." One commented.
Another user came to the defense of Sarr, saying "Sarr has been judged so cruelly by Chelsea fans for his performances on the left. I think Sterling's question reminds everyone of his preferred position, and that he has been decent when he played CB."
A third one added: "He saw man get burned by Nketiah he had to verify."

Chelsea seal Koulibaly transfer
Meanwhile, Chelsea secured their second signing after Sterling after acquiring Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli.
Koulibaly, 31, signs a four-year deal at Stamford Bridge, bringing an end to his spell at Napoli where he made 317 appearances.
His arrival to Chelsea will be a major boost for Thomas Tuchel’s side, who recently lost Antonio Rudiger to Real Madrid and Andreas Christensen, who has since joined Barcelona.
