Kaizer Chiefs could take on Major League Soccer side Atlanta United in the future if all goes according to plan for a fan.
Derrick Moite hopes that this would be another way of honouring Chiefs founder Kaizer Motaung, who got the idea of forming the club after his time playing for defunct side Atlanta Chiefs in the North American Soccer League from 1968 to 1971.
Kick Off reported that Moite visited Naturena this past week to gift Motaung a specially commissioned painting that illustrated the Chiefs and Amakhosi's contributions to both clubs.

Moite said to Chiefs' website:
"I wanted to do something for the Chairman that would link his past with Atlanta Chiefs and his present team together. So, I got a friend of mine in Ghana to do this artwork which symbolises the Chairman’s past at Atlanta Chiefs, and what he has built at Kaizer Chiefs."
With regard to the proposed match, Moite added:
"A match between Kaizer Chiefs and Atlanta Chiefs will help this, [it is] thanks to the Chairman that, through Kaizer Chiefs, Atlanta Chiefs has lived on in a way."
Last week, it was announced that Motaung will be conferred with an honorary doctorate in social sciences by the University of Cape Town.
