Sulley Muntari has described the relationship between him and former Black Stars teammates, Stephen Appiah, Laryea Kingston, Asamoah Gyan and Michael Essien as a brotherly one.

The quintet formed a formidable relationship during their time with the national team of Ghana and were welcoming to new players.

Muntari remains the only active player among the five and in an interview with GTV Sports Plus, he revealed the extend of his friendship with the quartet.

"We (Essien, Appiah, Asamoah Gyan and Laryea Kingston) built a relationship in the Black Stars, we didn't discriminate against the others and the new one," he told Kwabena Yeboah of Sports Highlights fame as quoted by Ghanaweb.

"We always welcomed them to the team, the kind of relationship we had, nobody gets angry," he added.

The quintet made history after playing a part in Ghana's first World Cup qualification in 2006 as the Black Stars appeared at the global showpiece in Germany.

Unfortunately, Laryea Kingston missed the tournament due to disciplinary reasons.

The Black Stars reached the round of 16 in Germany but bettered their performance by going a step further in South Africa 2010.

Sulley Muntari and Asamoah Gyan were the only remaining members of the five players that participated at the World Cup in Brazil in 2014.

Sulley Muntari hails former Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingston

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Sulley Muntari has singled out former teammate and Ghanaian goalkeeper Richard Kingston for praise.

The ex-Inter and AC Milan star insists Kingston played an important role in the Black Stars teams of the early 2000's.

Sulley Muntari, who plays for Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League, attributed fifty percent of the team's success to the former Blackpool and Wigan shot-stopper.
