Ghanaian youngster Felix Afena-Gyan has revealed that he has been advised by AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho to copy the style of Senegalese attacker Sadio Mané.

The 19-year-old forward was rewarded with a new long-term contract following an outstanding first season with the first team.

Afena-Gyan after signing his new deal thanked the Portuguese gaffer and disclosed how Mourinho inspires him to be one of the best.

“He means a lot to me. I can’t describe but he means a lot to me. We used to talk a lot. He told me I should play like Sadio Mane. I should be aggressive, I should be angry on the pitch. Like always he advises me to do this…to keep pushing, to work hard. We have been talking a lot,” Afena-Gyan said as told AS Roma TV as quoted by GHANAweb.

Felix Afena-Gyan enjoyed a breakthrough season with the capital-based club last season, making his debut against Cagliari in November 2021.

He netted a brace in his second game against Genoa, coming on as a second half substitute. His performances saw him make the Europa Conference League team in the second half of the campaign. He was part of the team that beat Feyenoord to win the competition.

Felix Afena-Gyan signed a new 4-year-deal with the giallorossi's and will stay at Roma until 2026.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that talented Ghanaian teen, Felix Afena-Gyan, has extended his deal with Italian giants AS Roma.

The 19-year-old inked a new deal that will see him stay at Roma until June 2026.

The Italian club announced the contract extension of the Black Stars forward on their official website.
