The publication further adds that footage of Rooney landing at Dulles international airport on Sunday night, July 10, ahead of the move has already emerged across social media.

The former England international is no stranger to the Major League Soccer, having spent a year and a half with DC United as a player.

Coleen Rooney opposed to Englishman's return to the US

News on Rooney's return to the US is said to have been received negatively by his wife, Coleen.

The Mirror reports that leaked texts showed that wife Coleen was not a fan of Washington during the couple's last stay.

However, Rooney appears to have ignored his wife's opposition and made the trip to the US to complete his move.

The ex-United star will be hoping to steer DC United back to winning ways, with his arrival coming just a day after they were hammered 7-0 at the hands of Philadelphia Union.

Carlos Tevez picks first win as manager

Earlier, Sports Brief reported former Premier League striker Carlos Tevez has tasted his first victory as Rosario Central's manager.

The 38-year-old veteran footballer had endured two defeats in his first two matches in charge of the Argentine club.

However, he was happy to watch his side secure the three points when they took on Sarmiento in a home fixture.

Youngster Facundo Buonanotte scored the only goal of the match as the hosts condemned Sarmiento to a 1-0 defeat.
