Shocking reports have emerged that Lionel Messi will attempt to move back to Barcelona after feeling frustrated by Kylian Mbappe's increased influence at Paris Saint-Germain.

Messi, who joined PSG at the start of last season, is said to have talked to his former teammate and current Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez over a possible move back to Spain.

Mbappe recently signed a contract extension at PSG, making him the best-paid footballer on the planet and other exclusive privileges at the club. And as El Nacional reports via Sportskeeda, Messi now feels that his role and influence in Paris has been reduced.

It is, however, difficult to see how Messi could make a return to Barcelona after only one year. The Argentine left the Catalans after the club failed to renew his contract due to financial constraints.
