According to Daily Mail, Ajax have made it clear to the Red Devils that they need to increase their current £43million offer to £50million to stand any chance of signing the central defender.

Ten Hag is looking to add the South American within his ranks as he looks to strengthen his current squad.

Lisandro Martinez ready to go to war with Ajax

Ajax's decision to decline United's offer is said to have slowed down Martinez's potential move to Old Trafford this summer.

The twist of events has reportedly led to some frustrations, with Martinez now willing to go to war with his club to allow him to depart.

The Mirror reports that Martinez may even refuse to continue training with the Dutch giants if they fail to reach an agreement with United over his transfer.

Sources close to the 24-year-old claim that the defender is losing patience with Ajax on the progress of his transfer.

Arsenal are also said to be monitoring the centre-back's situation at the Amsterdam-based club.

However, Martinez is understood to be preferring a move to the Theatre of Dreams and wants the deal sealed in the next 48 hours.

Man United want Arsenal flop to replace Ronaldo

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Manchester United have reportedly identified Serge Gnabry as the ideal replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo has been linked with a move away this summer, with reports claiming the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has asked United to let him depart.

Gnabry, on the other hand, is as well said to be looking to leave Bayern Munich after he turned down a new deal with the Bavarians.
