- The DStv Premiership season will kick off at the beginning of August and finish at the end of May 2023
- The MTN8 tournament, which generally precedes the DStv Premiership season, will take place a week later
Football fans can rejoice as the new season is set to get underway in less than a month’s time.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) have announced the dates of when the season will begin and when the major tournaments will kick off.
The new DStv Premiership campaign will begin on the weekend of 5 August, and the season will end on 20 May 2023.
The Nedbank Cup final will be played seven days later, on 27 May 2023, The South African confirmed.

The MTN 8, the annual precursor to the season in South Africa, will get underway on 12 August this year. The season will take a break from 4 November as the FIFA World Cup takes centre stage during November and December.
The Motsepe Foundation Championship, previously known as the GladAfrica Championship, will take place on the weekend of 2 September.
Mamelodi Sundowns will head into the new season as the defending champions of the MTN 8, the Nedbank Cup and the DStv Premiership.

Premier Soccer League chairman Irvin Khoza announces Carling Knockout Cup to replace Telkom Knockout
The Premier Soccer League will have another cup competition added for the 2022/23 season.
Chairman Irvin Khoza announced the Carling Knockout Cup is set to be held during the months of November and December. The tournament replaces the Telkom Knockout, which was last held in 2019, won by Mamelodi Sundowns after defeating Maritzburg United 2-1 in the final.
This competition was not conducted in 2020 after the Covid-19 pandemic upended the global sports calendar and was abolished last season.
