Manchester United has been advised against keeping an unhappy player in their squad ahead of the 2022/23 season after Cristiano Ronaldo’s request to leave the club this summer.
The 37-year-old forward has not yet resumed pre-season with the Red Devils despite his resumption date set for Monday, June 4, as he claimed to be having family issues.
Former Chelsea striker, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has now urged Manchester United to offload Ronaldo and use the funds generated from his sale to bolster their squad Daily Mirror reports.

"You do not want an unhappy player, especially a player of that caliber. You want him to be happy.
"I think if Ronaldo wants to go, then you let him go. He is at an age where maybe he can play one more year in the Champions League. So try and get as much money for him, sell him and try to build a squad and make the team stronger."
Manchester United remain adamant about selling Ronaldo although Chelsea, Bayern Munich, AS Roma, and Napoli have all indicated their interest in the Portuguese attacker.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are experiencing a long delay in their bid to sign Dutch midfielder, Frankie de Jong from Barcelona this summer.
