Japan captain Maya Yoshida was recently left stunned by the accuracy of football insider Fabrizio Romano, who recently confirmed his move to FC Schalke.
The former Southampton man signed for the newly-promoted Schalke on a free transfer, with the move being confirmed on Tuesday, July 5.
Yoshida, 33, has signed a one-year deal with Schalke, with the option of an extension, as the club looks to bolster their defence ahead of their return to the German top flight.
While the transfer is not too surprising, it is the manner in which it was announced that left Yoshida in stitches on social media.

Fabrizio, who has developed a reputation of knowing all the transfer happenings in Europe and beyond, revealed Yoshida would be completing the free transfer after turning down offers from other clubs, including Turkish side Trabzonspor.
Taking to Twitter, a flabbergasted Yoshida said:
“This guy is incredible… even my wife didn’t know about Trabzonspor,”
Notably, Romano broke the news long before Schalke made the official announcement.
“Schalke 04 are set to sign Japanese centre back Maya Yoshida on a free transfer. Been told he’s gonna fly to Germany tomorrow to undergo medical tests,” he tweeted.
Last season, Yoshida played in the Serie A with Sampdoria, having previously played for Southampton from 2012-2020.
He has also had brief spells with VVV-Venlo in the Netherlands and Nagoya Grampus in Japan.
