Moses Simon has been nominated alongside 29 other African stars for the prestigious Africa Footballer of the year award.
The Super Eagles winger had an explosive Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon earlier this year which the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has used in identifying nominees for the award.
Moses Simon is the only Nigerian to be nominated for the Footballer of the year award dominated by champions of the 2021 AFCON, Senegal who have 5 players on the 30-man shortlist.

The Nantes winger will hope to become the fifth Nigerian footballer to emerge as the winner of Africa’s most prestigious football individual award which a Nigerian last won in 1999.
Rashidi Yekini, Emmanuel Amuneke, Victor Ikpebe, and Nwankwo Kanu are the only Nigerians who have won the award in the history of awards.
Salah, Mane and Mahrez headline Player of the Year nominees
Meanwhile, Africa’s top stars including Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Riyad Mahrez tops the list of players nominated for the CAF’s player of the year award Goal reports.
Mane is considered the heavy favourite for the award after leading Senegal to the AFCON title in February and also reaching the UEFA Champions League final with Liverpool.
The last time the awards was held was in 2019 with Mane and Asisat Oshoala winning the men and women categories respectively.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Moses Simon was in action for 73 minutes helping his Nantes side to a 1-0 win over Nice as they emerged this season’s Coupe de France champions.
The ex-Gent winger helped his side to another title and has taken to social media to reveal the secret behind his success for this campaign.
Simon has been phenomenal for the French club this season where he found the back of the net six times and also made eight assists.
