Football fans have come up with an interesting theory on why Romelu Lukaku was accorded the number 90 shirt on his return to Inter Milan.
Having re-signed for Chelsea in a sensational £97.5 million deal last season, the 29-year old rejoins Inter on a season-long loan after netting 15 goals in 44 games for the Blues last season.
Inter paid a loan fee of £6.9 million and Lukaku is set to link up with his new-old teammates in the coming days.

It is quite an interesting shirt number selection for Lukaku, and while there are many theories on why Inter chose it, some cheeky fans could not help but aim a dig at Chelsea.
On social media, sections of fans speculated that the shirt number choice was Inter’s subtle way of saying they made a £90 million profit off Chelsea for Lukaku.
“Inter gave Lukaku the number 90 to represent the 90 million profit they made from him,” One fan jibed.
“Romelu Lukaku picking number 90 because that’s how much profit Inter have made from him in just one year: €90m,”

Meanwhile, Lukaku has already spoken out after becoming a member of the Inter Milan squad once again.
He admitted to still having strong feelings for the club and its fans, and was eager to work with Simeone Inzaghi at the San Siro.
Inzaghi took charge of the club after Antonio Conte departed at the end of the 2020/21 campaign.
