Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu joined his Southampton teammates to unveil their new kits for the 2022/23 season.

The English club unveiled their home kits which draw inspiration from those worn by the free-flowing Saints side of the early 1980s.

In photos posted on Twitter, sighted by Sports Brief, Salisu wore the new kits with pride as he took pictures for presentation on their official website.

Produced by Danish sportswear giant, hummel, club captain James Ward-Prowse took part in the unveiling of the jersey.

Launched under the campaign, Bold is Brave, the kit comes as the club is celebrating bravery both on and off the pitch.

The Director of Marketing and Partnerships at Southampton said of their jersey.

"As part of this launch, we asked players, staff, and fans what bravery means to them and in time we will be releasing some of these stories. Working with hummel enables us to creatively push our kit designs and this shirt is no different.
"Celebrating our heritage with a flip on the classic 1980 shirt but modernised with nods to St Mary’s stadium and a bold central badge."

Mohammed Salisu has been a revelation in the English Premier League this season, starring in 34 games for Southampton as they finished 15th on the table.

The towering centre-back has also been on the radar of Spanish giants Barcelona, who are looking for a replacement for out-of-favour Samuel Umtiti.

He joins Manchester City's Aymeric Laporte, Jules Kounde of Sevilla, Villareal's Pau Torres and Matthijs De Ligt of Juventus as defenders being considered by the Catalan giants, per Tribal Football.
