Pitso Mosimane Backs Arthur Zwane to Succeed at Kaizer Chiefs but Questions Whether Amakhosi Coach Is Ready

Pitso Mosimane is backing Arthur Zwane to make the most of his chance as head coach of Kaizer Chiefs.

The former Al Ahly manager weighed in on Zwane's task ahead as 10111 looks to bring trophies back to the Naturena after seven years.

Speaking to Soccer Laduma, Mosimane said that Zwane had nothing to lose as head coach of the Glamour Boys.

Mosimane, however, did question whether Zwane was hungry enough for success because he never expressed an outright desire to be the new Amakhosi coach.

“The question is, is he ready? Does he want it? Because I’ve never heard him say he wants it. I’ve been watching the television interviews; he never said I want it. It was vacant; it was open. He never said he wants it, but because I know him, he is modest. But take it if you want it. Show that you want it,” he said.

As reported by The South African, Mosimane added that he was happy for Arthur Zwane because he was a local coach in charge of a big South African team. Mosimane has often advocated for local coaches in the Premier Soccer League.

He admitted that it would be a tough task for Zwane to bring Chiefs back to glory days, as Stuart Baxter and Steve Komphela had failed, but that he needed to do more to achieve it.

Jingles recently admitted that he missed South Africa and was open to coaching again in the country.

Following his departure from Al Ahly, some believed that Mosimane would return to Mamelodi Sundowns. Mosimane was contracted to the Brazilians till 2024 but left the club to join Al Ahly in 2020.
