Manchester City transfer target Harry Kane failed to show up at Tottenham training despite the fact that he was being expected.
Kane, according to BBC, was scheduled to have a COVID-19 test on Monday, August 2 before commencing training on Tuesday ahead of the new season.
However, the 28-year old was a no show and Spurs are lost for any explanation on why he did not show up.
As TUKO.co.ke reported, the striker was reported to have had a gentleman’s agreement with Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy.
Manchester City are still keen on signing Kane but Tottenham’s asking price remains a bit too high for the Premier League champions.
City are also interested in Kane’s international teammate Jack Grealish, and are willing to part ways with upto £100m.
Despite speculation surrounding Grealish as well, the creative midfielder turned up for training with Aston Villa.
Kane signed a six-year deal with Tottenham in 2018 and his deal was set to run until 2024.
However, it seems the club’s lack of silverware has finally gotten to the striker, who, despite being Tottenham’s all-time goalscorer, is yet to lift a trophy with the club.
He had yet another prolific season in 2020/21 as he bagged 23 top flight goals to claim the golden boot for a third time in his career in the Premier League.
New Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo played down speculation of Kane’s future in his first press conference when he was first appointed.
"Harry is our player. Period. No need to talk about anything else, I am looking forward to him joining the group,” Nuno said at the time.
