Azola Matrose will continue his career at Chippa United, despite signing for Orlando Pirates.
The 19-year-old midfielder was unveiled as a new Orlando Pirates player on Monday alongside Bienvenu Eva Nga, Evidence Makgopa and Miguel Timm.
Soccer Laduma reported though, that the youngster will remain with the Chilli Boys for the 2022/23 season. Matrose was spotted training with Chippa United, leading many to question why he hadn’t made the move to the Buccaneers as yet.
“He is a Pirates player, but the plan is for him to remain with Chippa on loan for his growth. Pirates is a big club and with a lot of stars and game time might be difficult for him to get and that could affect his progress,” a source told the publication.

At only 19, Matrose has played just 14 games for Chippa United during the 2021/22 season. He only started four of those games and came on as a sub for the other 10. Matrose scored one goal and provided one assist during the season, TransferMarkt confirmed.

The Citizen reported that the 32-year-old Monare was offered a one-year contract extension with a salary cut, but that he and his agent were not happy with the deal.

Orlando Pirates has signalled its intent on challenging for trophies on all fronts in the 2022/23 DStv Premiership.
Four players were confirmed to have arrived at the club, with six others' time at the club coming to an official end.
According to iDiski Times, Evidence Makopa (Baroka FC), Bienvenu Eva Nga and Azola Matrose (both Chippa United) and Miguel Timm (Marumo Gallants). Amazulu defender Tapelo Xoki is on also on the way, with the deal being finalised before it is confirmed.
