  • Erik ten Hag could be forced to put up with Anthony Martial after Man United reportedly failed to find a buyer for the Frenchman
  • The Red Devils were keen to get rid of Martial this summer but have fallen short of offers for the striker
  • Martial's continued stay at Old Trafford could see him settle for a place on the bench next season as he is behind Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho in the pecking order

Erik ten Hag is reportedly ready to give Anthony Martial a second chance at Manchester United.

United were hoping to cash in on the Frenchman this summer after he dropped down the pecking order under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

However, Metro UK reports the Red Devils were unable to find a potential suitor for the forward who spent the second half of last season on loan with Sevilla.

Martial forced through a temporary move to the Spanish club but he could not make an impression on the side.

Man United fail to find buyer for Anthony Martial

Ten Hag is said to have deemed Martial surplus to requirements after his appointment as the Man United boss and was keen to offload him.

However, Manchester Evening News claims that the United are yet to get offers for the striker and now face the prospect of sticking with the Frenchman.

Reports suggest the France international is set to report for pre-season training next Monday as he bids to win the faith of Ten Hag.

Should he stay beyond this summer, he will be forced to settle for a place on the bench as he is already behind Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho in the pecking order for a spot on the left flank.

He could, however, provide back-up for Cristiano Ronaldo as a central striker as the Red Devils are yet to find a replacement for Edinson Cavani who departed at the end of last season.

Man United close to making first summer signing

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Manchester United have stepped their efforts to sign Ajax winger Antony this summer.

Erik ten Hag is keen to add the Brazilian within his ranks as he looks to build a formidable team that can challenge for titles.

United representatives are said to be in Amsterdam in an attempt to get the transfer of the Brazilian over the line.
