The former secretary-general of the Nigeria Football Association Sani Toro who was earlier kidnapped has been released by his abductors.
Confirming his release, a source at the Bauchi State Sports Council, said that Alhaji Toro was released on Monday night after negotiations with his abductors.
According to Tribune, Sani Toro was allowed to go after negotiations with the kidnappers who earlier demanded a ransom of N150 million and reduced it to N30 million.
The source, however, did not confirm if any figure was paid before he was let go.
The source who craved anonymity earlier said via Vanguard:
“Insha Allah things are under control. Negotiation is on, God willing, this issue will soon be over. The ransom has come down to N30m from N150m. Hopefully, by tomorrow (today) or next, things shall be concluded."
Toro was kidnapped alongside a former assistant coach of the Super Eagles, Garba Yila, on their way back to Bauchi from Abuja, where they attended the wedding of the son of a former NFF President, Aminu Maigari, when the sad incident occurred.
Efforts to reach Alhaji Toro on phone on Tuesday morning yielded no result as his phone was still switched off.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has called on authorities to immediately make efforts to put an end to the continuous attacks on motorists along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway by bandits.

Sports Brief earlier reported that a young man named Christopher Edoghogho has passed away after he reportedly slumped during a football match in Benin City.
Edoghogho, before his death, was a player for local team Angels Football Academy as it was gathered that he collapsed on the pitch barely two minutes into the kick-off of a game.
The late player’s teammates stormed the Edo State Specialist Hospital in Benin and blocked the entrance as they also trooped to the ever-busy Sapele Road to protest the attitude of the medical personnel.
