Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to sign Atletico Madrid star Marcos Llorente ahead of the summer transfer window.
Llorente has enjoyed an impressive run of form for the La Liga giants, scoring nine goals and setting up eight others in the Spanish top-flight this season.
According to Metro UK citing sources in Spain, United have taken a step forward in bringing the midfielder to Old Trafford after already contacted Atletico over their interest.

The publication added the Red Devils have since tabled a deal worth £68.5 million in an attempt to lure Atletico into letting their starman switch to the Premier League.
It is understood the Diego Simeone-tutored side were not planning to sell Llorente, but are now reconsidering their options in light of United's mouthwatering offer.
Whereas Atletico may be willing to sell, United will have to convince Llorente to join them, with the midfielder believed not to be keen to leave Madrid.
The Spaniard is said to be well aware of Atletico's financial struggles and has not demanded any wage increment to reflect his spectacular form.
Spanish outlet, AS, adds the Manchester club made an attempt to sign the 26-year-old in January, but Llorente fended off all advances as he remained intent on sticking with Atletico.
Speaking on his future, the player's agent and uncle, Julio, divulged a number of clubs outside of La Liga are interested in the services of the Spain international, he told Cadena SER.
"I have received many calls about him, and we have talked about this. Right now, he wants to stay at Atletico. But the last call I received about him was back in May, and it was not from a Spanish club."
Legit.ng earlier reported that Manchester United legend Paul Ince has urged the club to sign Sergio Aguero once the summer transfer window opens.
Aguero is out of contract with Man City at the end of the ongoing season and looks set to leave on a free.
Sources claim the Argentine is yet to agree a new deal with City, opening doors for his departure in the next few weeks.
