Zimbabwe international Marvelous Nakamba has stepped up efforts to build a state of the art sports complex in his native Zimbabwe.

The complex, which is aptly named after the Aston Villa star, is set to house sporting activities in five different disciplines including football, tennis, basketball, volleyball and swimming.

It will be run by the Marvelous Nakamba Foundation, set up by the player back in 2020 to help children and youth through educational programmes among other activities like sports, life experiences and talents.

Nakamba also recently disclosed that earthmoving machinery has been mobilized to do the clearance job effectively.

“I am excited that finally, we get to action plans that have been on pen and paper for a long time, much credit goes to the Bulawayo City Council for the support and encouragement that has led us to this precious moment. It has always been my dream to have a state-of-the-art facility that our youngsters will enjoy using, something that we didn’t grow up having. It’s high time we give back to the community,” Nakamba said on the on going project.

The sports complex is set to be fitted with modern facilities and among the structures that will be set up include administration offices, a restaurant, gymnasium, conference centre, medical bay and a diner.”

Nakamba is currently back in Zimbabwe and has been taking part in charitable causes.

Sports Brief has also learnt that the Aston Villa star is set to grace a football tournament at the White City Stadium.

Patson Daka promises to build hospital in Zambia

Nakamba is not the only African superstar to give back to his native country.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported of how Patson Daka vowed to build a state-of-the-art hospital in his hometown of Kafue.

Daka, who plies his trade with Premier League side, Leicester City, is understood to have reached out to the city's mayor to facilitate land for the construction of the facility.

Kafue mayor, Buumba Malambom, has since confirmed the development, revealing that Daka had reached out to his office to discuss the plan.
