Orlando Pirates appears to have pulled off another coup on the transfer market.
The Buccaneers have gained the services of the highly-talented striker Evidence Makgopa from relegated Limpopo side Baroka FC. The 22-year-old Makgopa, a Bafana Bafana player, who was voted the PSL Young Player of the Year for the 2020/21 season, had been linked with a move to Pirates for some time.
Baroka FC confirmed the sale to Kick Off, saying:
"We are preparing now [for next season] and everybody is here except Makgopa.With regards to Makgopa, I can confirm that he is leaving. He is going to Pirates, I'm letting him go with my whole heart, I'm giving him my blessing, as he did well for us.
I wish that he succeeds at Pirates, I just wish he has the same sort of success as Goodman Mosele."
According to Transfermarkt, Makgopa is worth R6.7 million in market value. He made 31 appearances last season in the DStv Premiership and Nedbank Cup, scoring three goals and assisting in four.
Goal also reported that the Buccaneers had snapped up the services of Tapelo Xoki from Amazulu and Nkosinathi Sibisi from Golden Arrows. Gabadinho departed the club for Amazulu, while Thulani Hlatshwayo was released.

The worst-kept secret involving Orlando Pirates appears to have been confirmed.
As reported by Sports Brief, the Buccaneers have reportedly acquired the services of midfielder Miguel Timm from Marumo Gallants on a free transfer. The 30-year-old will sail with the Sea Robbers for the next three seasons.
The 30-year-old defensive midfielder's initial contract with his former side was set to expire at the end of June, with the player free to sign for a club of his choice.
