Barcelona legend Dani Alves has confirmed he is leaving the club for the second time, months after rejoining the Catalan giants.
Alves, 39, rejoined Barcelona in November 2021, five years after initially leaving the club for Juventus.
He re-signed for Barcelona at a time when the club was struggling with squad depth, and Xavi had just been appointed as the new manager, replacing Ronald Koeman.
In an emotional Instagram post, the right-back shared a video reel of his best highlights in a Barcelona shirt, saying:
"I would like to thank all the staff for the opportunity they gave me to return to this club and to be able to wear that wonderful shirt again. You don't know how happy I am,"
"It closes a very beautiful cycle and opens another even more challenging one”
In total, he made 407 appearances for Barcelona, winning an impressive six La Liga titles.
During his initial eight-year spell with Barca, he won the Champions League thrice and the Copa del Rey four times.
After initially leaving Barcelona in 2015, he proceeded to join Juventus for the 2016-17 and helped the team win the Serie A, before moving to Paris Saint Germain.
At PSG, he also won the Ligue 1 but fell short of the Champions League in both 2017-18 and 2018-19, before eventually moving to Sao Paolo in Brazil.
Alves’ post was met with warm reactions from a number of superstars, including Xavi and other Barcelona legends, both past and present.
