Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has disclosed that he remains uncertain over his future with Italian side Napoli, saying 'anything can happen.'
Reports have it that English Premier League club Arsenal submitted a £51million bid for the forward who scored four times in Nigeria’s 10-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe in the AFCON qualifiers.
Osimhen has just spent two seasons with the Italian giants, but his impressive form has attracted interest from a number of clubs in England, Metro reports.
The 23-year-old scored 18 goals in 32 matches for the Patenopei last season and reports have it that the Gunners tabled a £51millionbid for the Nigerian, though Napoli have rejected it as they value him at closer to £85million.
Osimhen said as per Independent NG:
“I always go out on the pitch to do my best both with the national team and with my club.
“I don’t know my future, I know anything can happen, but now I just want to go on holiday with my family, clear my head and recharge my batteries.
“Then we’ll take care of everything else.”
Osimhen acknowledges Yekini as Nigeria’s greatest striker
Meanwhile, despite scoring four goals in Nigeria’s 10-0 thrashing of Sao Tome & Principe in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, Victor Osimhen has stated that Rashidi Yekini remains the greatest striker Nigeria ever had.
Osimhen has now scored 15 goals for Nigeria’s senior national team, having made 22 appearances as many believe he could eventually break the goals record set by the late legend.
Rashidi Yekini scored 37 goals in 62 matches for Nigeria and no player has reached such a feat, but Osimhen who is just 23 years old could smash that record.
